I read this Nancy Drew mystery and I thought it was pretty good. Not one of my favorites, but it wasn’t horrible! From the very beginning, I was suspicious of David Wells and Peter Paint Guy from the evidence in the book. I thought they had something to do with the crime, especially since Peter Paint didn’t exist and I thought that he was somehow connected to David Wells.I thought that Nancy, Bess, George and Ned (Nancy especially), because they were willing to help the town’s animal shelter by hosting and setting up a benefit concert.

That is more than the adults in the town and animal shelter workers and owners were going to do! And these are kids! They have a life and they know it is going to be hard work but they were up for the challenge. They were determined and I liked that. I envy them for being such leaders! When I was introduced to Deirdre, I didn’t like her from the start. She was cold hearted and she was a manipulator. She was trying to steal Ned from Nancy, knowing that Ned and Nancy were going out.

She was also trying to steal the spotlight from Nancy and act like she really cared about the animal shelter which she didn’t. Nancy didn’t really care about the spotlight but still, it is what it is.I thought that Nancy was being too sweet about the whole thing with Ned and Deirdre. Ned is too sweet to say know about going to the prom with Deirdre and helping her but enough is enough! Yes, being sweet is good but going out with another girl? Ned has got to learn how to say no! If I were Nancy, I would have put my foot down and tell Ned that he doesn’t stop hanging out with Deirdre, it was over!In the end, Nancy was right from the beginning.

David Wells and his chew toy, Stefan were behind the whole thing. The book was good overall, even though it was too easy for me. The only thing that I disliked was that Chief McGinnis believed Nancy right away about David Wells and Stefan and they got arrested so quickly, meanwhile Nancy was on his bad side. That only took a page!

So, I give this book a four out of five stars!
